HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Refresher)

RTO: 90909 Medical emergencies happen every day throughout Australia and those who have the learnt skills to help, often find themselves saving another’s life. At STG Fire Safety Training we can provide some of these skills with both theory and real-world scenarios. ©️ By the end of the course, our aim is to have you ready to recognise and respond to a developing medical emergency situation.

Also, some of the skills may help with other emergencies. Simply by building confidence helps to reduce confusion as adrenaline surges through your body in a general flight or fight response during emergencies. There aren’t many people that don’t have this reaction during major emergencies. Therefore, ©️ training builds confidence and may set you up to help yourself and others.

Our instructors are current or ex emergency workers and have skills to mentor and develop yours.

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation – Elements define the essential outcomes.	Performance criteria specify the level of performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.
1. Respond to an emergency situation safely and effectively	Recognize a developing emergency Identify, assess and mitigate ©️ health and safety hazards to yourself and those around you Assess the patient and recognise the need for CPR Seek professional medical help from the emergency services
2. Perform CPR as per procedures	Perform CPR in accordance with the ARC guidelines Display and perform respectful behaviour towards the casualty Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications
3. Communicate details of the incident	Accordingly, provide incident details to responding to emergency services Report details of incident to workplace supervisor Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and organisational policies
